Abstract
How can teachers turn dynamic geometry from a visual demonstration into an interactive, assessable, and reusable learning task without writing extensive JavaScript?
This talk presents lia-coordinate, a LiaScript template built on JSXGraph, and explores its use in classroom mathematics from both the learner’s and the teacher’s perspective. Practical examples demonstrate how learners can place points, reconstruct graphs, construct geometric figures, and receive automatic feedback on coordinates, lengths, angles, areas, perimeters, and combined geometric conditions. A further example connects handwritten function input with graph plotting.
The second part follows a teacher-centered authoring workflow: creating a construction visually in the integrated dynamic geometry system, customizing objects and available tools, exporting the generated LiaScript code, and embedding it in an openly licensed course. Particular attention is paid to pedagogical decisions such as allowing multiple valid solutions, choosing suitable tolerances, selecting appropriate construction tools, and providing meaningful feedback.
The presentation shows how LiaScript macros can make JSXGraph accessible to teachers with little programming experience while supporting browser-based, privacy-friendly, and adaptable Open Educational Resources for learners’ own devices.
